
An Overview of the OCA
Founded in 1908, The Suffolk Regiment Old Comrades Association includes all ranks that have served in the Regular and Territorial Battalions of The Suffolk Regiment, in The Cambridgeshire Regiment and in The Suffolk and Cambridgeshire Regiment.
Additionally all former members of The East Anglian Regiment (1959-1964) and former members of The Royal Anglian Regiment (1964 to the present day) are eligible for membership of the Association.
Wives of members and widows of deceased members are eligible to be Associate Members of the Association.
Role. The role of The Old Comrades Association is to:
1) To maintain the history, traditions, esprit de corps and comradeship of all ranks who have served in the Regiments making up the Association.
2) To relieve either generally or individually members who have served in the Regiments making up the Association who are in need, hardship or distress and their dependents who are likewise so qualified.
The Managing Trustees and executive Committee of the Association consists of the following: the President and Vice President of the Association, a Deputy Colonel of The Royal Anglian Regiment, the Chairman of the Executive Committee nominated by the President, at least four Members or Associate Members, one Representative of The Cambridgeshire Regiment and one Representitive of each Local Branch of the association. The Secretary of the Committee is the Royal Anglian Area Secretary (Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire). The Treasurer is one of the Members and is appointed by the Committee.
Branches of The Old Comrades Association are formed in areas and towns where numbers warrant it. They are self supporting in all respects.
